The Adrian Garcia campaign is pleased to announce that Gilbert Peña, a former Republican state representative for House District 144, has endorsed former Sheriff Adrian Garcia in his race for Harris County Commissioner Precinct 2.
Elected in 2014 and serving through the 2015 Texas legislative session, Peña endorses Garcia after representing Pasadena, South Houston, Deer Park, Baytown, and Channelview. Peña has pledged to campaign for Garcia, encouraging Hispanics and Republicans to “make a change this year” by voting for long-time public servant Adrian Garcia.
“Watching Adrian’s public service through the years, I’ve always known he’s on our side. With the Texas Republican Party and Harris County GOP wanting ‘yes men’ rather than true public servants, I look forward to urging Precinct 2 Republicans to vote for Adrian Garcia.” –Gilbert Peña
“I welcome Gilbert and other Republicans to add to our quickly growing campaign mosaic of support in Precinct 2,” said former Sheriff Garcia. “We’re so pleased to have voters from both parties voting to elect a fiscally responsible commissioner who’ll reach out and stand up for all communities from Clear Lake to the East End and beyond.”
“We obviously don’t agree on many issues, but we do agree that Precinct 2 is in serious need of new leadership,” continued Garcia. “And if we want to get Democrats on the Commissioners Court, we are going to have to get the help of Republicans.”
Peña will make phone calls to GOP voters for their support to Adrian Garcia. He’ll join other community leaders coming together to elect Precinct 2’s favorite son to replace the incumbent.
