Houston, Harris County, MHMRA Announce Joint Crisis Intervention Response Team
Mayor Parker, Judge Emmett, Sheriff Garcia, and HPD Executive Assistant Chief Munden joined with the Mental Health Mental Retardation Authority of Harris County (MHMRA) to announce a joint Crisis Intervention Response Team (CIRT) that will serve the entire Houston/Harris County region.

Sheriff to Get Staff For Jail; He Says It’s Not Enough
Harris County Commissioners Court approved additional workers for the short-staffed county jail, which continues to cover shifts with millions of dollars in overtime. “These positions that are being authorized only equal a portion of what we need to run the county jail. It’s not the answer,” Sheriff Garcia said.
